  • It seems I forgot to tell the story that goes along with the photos
below.  (Photo Challenge).  So, I’ll fix that.  Right now!

Last year, about this time, I was working at KSU . . . doin’ my music
thing .. . yadda yadda.  Well, in the
middle of the day, one of my major rehearsals was cancelled.  I still had a rehearsal later that evening,
and didn’t have enough time to go home . . . but I didn’t want to sit on my
butt in the hallway of the school and just *wait* for 3 hours.

    So I got in my
    car.

I drove around, just seeing what I could find.  I really never explored the Kent area, as I
would go to work/rehearsal/class/whatever . . and then go straight home.   I found some cute shops, and back roads
paved in brick.  Then I found this little
parking lot.  I pulled in, and saw this
little path leading into the woods.
(Now, keep in mind, I’m in dress clothes and HEELS.)    So of
course, since heels are exactly what everyone should go exploring in, I got
out, grabbed my camera (more on that later) . . . and plunged in!

I really had something in mind . . . I had this old disposable camera
that I wanted to get rid of . . so I thought I’d do a little experiment.  So I snapped them all, and decided to see
which turned out better . . . the digital or the disposable.  Surprisingly, the disposable camera did
rather well.  Can any of you tell which
is disposable and which is digital??

(oh and don’t worry . . . my shoes were FINE!   Just a little mud. . *grin*  easily cleaned off!!!)

    But I had ended up finding a place that I really liked . . . and I
photographed more in the days after.  It’s
just a lovely place to walk, with a few benches scattered.  You would never know that if you just looked
up a bit, a bustling city of Kent,
    OH was RIGHT there.

  • I appreciate the compliment... But I just don't think that I'm quite worthy of having more people like myself running around. : )  I know how she feels because I wasted about five of my more important years in that dreary place with self-destructive thinking.  It is rough, but I think she'll overcome.  I did--and I never thought that would happen!

Nice site--love the BG.  Have a wonderful day!

  • What a beautiful place! Thanks for all your support. God Bless!!

  • sometimes
    when we least expect it
in the more common place you can imagine
at the most craziest of all times
    when we stop and look
    really look
we can find the most simplest of pleasures
    the pleasures that count
    last
    impress
    relax
    right under our noses!

i've already experiemented with disposables.. the quality is quite good. i have a few that i've opened and reused, putting B&W film so i can develop it later, in those (old) days i had my darkroom (no longer... sigh).

  • Sounds beautiful!  And was worried about your shoes - glad they came out ok as well.  (Got any before and after of the shoes?  ).  I'm eager to see these pics!  Maybe they're already on your site and my new computer system (firewalled so that even Hell itself would even be envious of) isn't allowing 'em thru.  Glad all is well!

  • Haha... yeah, L probably would agree with you despite my objections.  And yes, you are right about my past shaping my thinking into what it is today.  I'm grateful for that, but regretful at the same time because I wasted so much precious time.  I'm just like everyone else when it comes to that...

I have to compliment your writing style.  I've never been too skilled in describing things with my vocabulary, and I love to read things from people that are gifted like that.  Beautifully articulated speech and writing is truly a work of art.  Bravo! :o )
